About this class
The objective of this course is to introduce students with the essential
concepts of the physical properties of soils as a civil engineering
material and the fundamental principles of soil mechanics. Upon
completion of the course, students should:
■ Have an understanding of soils as engineering materials.
■
Have an understanding of the importance of water in the soil and the
effective stress principle, specify soil compaction requirements.
■
Also the students should be able to conduct laboratory tests and obtain
soil properties and parameters from the test observations and results.
